Australian cricket team player Glenn Maxwell is named the new captain of Kings XI Punjab for IPL 2017 replacing Indian test team opener Murli Vijay . Kings XI Punjab has not done good job is last few session of IPL after 2014 and the owner of team are trying to give final touch to team.
Team is looking to change their fortune because they was at the last position in IPL team ranking from last two session . Glenn Maxwell was the hero of the team in 2014 and that year Kings XI Punjab was reached to the IPL finals but after that team could not impress their fans much .
Glenn Maxwell mostly known for his explosive batting in IPL . He was with Delhi Daredavils at first and then with Mumbai Indian before joining Kings XI Punjab .
It is noteworthy that some time before, Rising Pune Supergiant also removed former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and handed captaincy to Australia team captain Steve Smith . Meaning that Murli Vijay has become the second Indian after Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has been removed from the captaincy of team by his franchisees.

The team management took the big decision and removed Murali Vijay and made Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell captain for the 10th season of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) starting from April 5 .
In the middle of last season, the team removed South Africa’s David Miller and handed over the captaincy to Indian Test opener Murali Vijay. However, there was no change in the fortunes of the team as the team was on the last position in IPL ranking .
The team management chose Glenn Maxwell as captain, giving priority to Eoin Morgan and Darren Sammy .Morgan took the captaincy of England and reached in 2016 World T20 final, while Sammy led West Indies for two World Twenty20 titles, but Punjab considered Maxwell more worthy.
